What a wild month for the NBA. So many players traded…
You name him and he probably got traded. Being a Boston native I hold the Celtics close to my heart so losing Al Horford to none other than the Sixers hurts a bit. I’m more ambivalent about Kyrie’s departure with Kemba coming in. Hopefully the team comes together well. Jimmy Butler being traded to the Heat was a surprise to me considering how well the team did but I guess he wants to be the star and that can’t happen with Embiid, Harris and Simmons. I’m not sure if Butler will even fit well with the Heat but I guess we’ll see. Then, there’s Leonard. It seemed like he was gonna leave for sure when he was initially traded, then it seemed he liked the team and went on to win a championship but alas, he leaves.
Moving over to the western conference, people are flying in and out. Kevin Durant to the Nets, Russell to the Warriors, Chris Paul to the Thunder, Paul George to the Clippers, Anthony Davis to the Lakers. Hectic. The power balance has definitely shifted in the West, but to who? To the Lebron and Davis led Lakers or the newly defensive-minded Clippers ? Or will the tri-guard tandem in the Bay Area still rise up to the challenge? The trade for Russel still doesn’t make sense to me, but I’m glad Russell got paid.
With the Summer League over, one can only wait to see what will result from these trades. Hopefully more competition in the West.
