The top tier players of the league are one by one passing on playing for the USA team: they’re who we have left and have been invited. Included in the names of potential (if not already) invited is Julius Randle who is a great player, but still stands to show how deep we’re getting into the NBA roster to fill the USA team. With him is Marcus Smart and Jaylen Brown… Nothing heard yet from Lebron but it seems as if he’s most likely going to pass on FIBA as many other players are like Damian Lillard who just pulled out of the World Cup.
Why? Why are players (except for Beal who’s expecting a baby) pulling out of the World Cup? Is everyone really excited for the downfall of GSW and want to get in as much training and practice as is possible? Is this the year of competition (at least in the West)?
The doors are wide open, and I guess more and more players are seeing that.
